Quality of Life Improvements for the GREENGAGE Console

Easier User Onboarding
in the GREENGAGE Console

Until today’s release, the GREENGAGE Console only allowed inviting users who had already created an account—either via the console itself or through the GREENGAGE mobile app. While this approach worked well for the original use case of closed Citizen Observatories, testing throughout the project revealed a clear need for more flexibility. Feedback consistently highlighted that the true strength of the app lies in its dynamic and adaptable approach.

This limitation made it unnecessarily difficult to onboard new users, especially in more open or evolving environments.

With the latest update, this barrier has been removed.

Simplified Invitation Process

The invitation process has now been significantly simplified. Invitations can be sent via email—regardless of whether the recipient already has a
GREENGAGE account. These emails simply inform the recipient that they’ve been invited to join an Observatory.

However, in order to actually join and participate in an Observatory, users are still required to create or log into a GREENGAGE account.

This means the established onboarding flow remains intact, while still making it much easier to add new participants to an Observatory. Since the app dashboard provides all the essential information about the Observatory and the app itself, newly invited users can quickly get up to speed.

Additional Improvements

This update also includes a number of bug fixes addressing issues uncovered during recent intensive testing—particularly by the Italian pilot group of the GREENGAGE project.

Overall, this release marks an important step forward in expanding the capabilities of the GREENGAGE Console and supporting the work of Citizen Observatories even more effectively.
