How news.at integrated Fairu's sync disks

When you upload a photo, organize your workspace, or connect your app to Fairu’s API, you are not just storing data. You are building structures: projects, communities, and creative ecosystems that grow over time.

Many of our customers use Fairu as the backbone for their digital workflows. One of them is the renowned Austrian magazine news.at, which has been relying on Fairu for its gallery functionality for quite some time.

With Fairu, their editors can create automated image galleries directly within the platform in just a few clicks. The system integrates easily through its comprehensive API, while advanced automation logic ensures that copyright information is correctly assigned to each image. This saves both time and money in the long run.

The only remaining bottleneck had been the manual upload of hundreds of photos every day. Editors had to handle and upload each image individually, which is a time-consuming process.

Thanks to Fairu Sync and a slight modification on our side in the GraphQL API, that challenge has now been solved. Josef Chladek from the development team at VGN built a custom photographer booking tool on top of Fairu’s existing toolset. Using Fairu’s ability to automatically create SFTP access for individual folders, the new system allows photographers to upload their work directly to the right location. It also includes automated job management and a deeper integration with Fairu, making the entire workflow faster, simpler, and more efficient.

From that point on, Fairu takes over. It syncs the data from the provided SFTP into the desired directory, links each uploaded file with the correct photographer (including copyright and licensing information), and notifies the connected system about changes via webhook.

This smart and intuitive solution, now in use at VGN, not only accelerates the process but also frees editors to focus on what truly matters integrating and curating galleries within their articles.

The cost of integration?

As we’ve already seen with Breeva, our customers and partners continue to show that integrating Fairu and its functionality requires very little effort, yet delivers powerful process automation in return.

Once the API was ready - I think around September 2nd, with a few small issues afterward - everything rolled out smoothly. In truth, it only took a handful of mutations, and all together the implementation was done in just a day or two. (Josef Chladek)
