The EU Blockchain Project Greengage in Bristol

21. February 2023 News

After a blockchain solution we developed had already proven itself successfully at HotCity and Cycle4Value, we were able on 20 and 21 February, as part of the Greengage project kickoff meeting, together with our partners from AIT and Digital Sunray in Bristol to demonstrate what our technology is capable of.

The Kickoff Meeting

The kickoff meeting took place in Bristol (UK) on 20 and 21 February. It served not only as the starting signal, but also gave us the opportunity to get to know all 16 project partners in person.

What is Greengage?

Greengage is a project funded by the European Union with the goal of promoting innovative governance processes and making tools accessible.

As part of four pilot projects in Bristol, Copenhagen, North Brabant, and Italy, the assembled and modified toolbox will be deployed. This toolbox will be refined over several iterations.

On 20 and 21 February 2023, the project team from Bristol led us through the project neighborhood and were able to impressively demonstrate the challenges of citizen participation here.

The 4 Goals of the Greengage Blockchain Project

  • Strengthening citizen awareness, interest, and engagement in urban environmental issues

  • Providing scientific data and tools so they can be used to address environmental issues

  • Strengthening synergies among the participating partner cities

  • Creating processes and tools to improve citizen participation

The Project Role of the Agency Sushi Dev GmbH

Already at HotCity, a blockchain technology we developed impressively demonstrated that the fully automatic creation and distribution of NFTs works as a reward mechanism.

Even then, our headless technology served not only as a central hub for collecting data, but also demonstrated how it can be used to intensify citizen participation in environmental issues.

At the time, the project managed to convince not only the operators of the blockchain technology, but also the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO for short), during the Austrian Blockchain Awards.

A logical further development of our technology took place during Cycle4Value. The reward system introduced there was combined with an AI mechanism and operated here fully automatically as a Microservice in the background.

As part of the Greengage blockchain project, we, the agency Sushi Dev GmbH, will now make this technology available to a broad public and, as part of the pilot projects, to all cities as part of the Greengage toolbox.

Naturally, we also want to do our part to ensure that the remaining technologies can be embedded as part of a modern MACH infrastructure.
