TV-Media's Power Branding - make ads great again

In an era shaped by AI and ad blockers, delivering innovative advertising formats has become more challenging than ever. However, TV-Media, VGN Medien Holding, proves that a well-designed UI can still be a powerful tool to create engaging experiences for advertisers.
Integrating advertising into a website is nothing new. However, turning it into a core element of the screen design is a bold and innovative step. In the first implementation, launched on April 28, 2025, the advertisement is delivered as a fully integrated part of the page’s structure. The concept was developed by HiVoice Media for VGN and, as the executing development agency and a long-standing partner, we were commissioned to bring this concept to life.
The responsive concept
For the power branding to be displayed nicely, it required to have a solid concept in place for all elements to work seamlessly. One of the bigger challenges of an undergoing like this is to predefine a ruleset which is communicated to future customers in order to guarantee correct placement of their ad cover image.
After some preparation and initial tests, we settled for a concept that was heavily based on aspect ratios of the user devices.

We came up with a solution that used two images to be able to optimize for the respective aspect ratios and defined a safe zone area along with some other key values.
Implementation
The already component-based UI was expanded with new customization functionality, allowing power brandings like this to go live quickly and effortlessly without any need for developer intervention. For us, this meant to further abstract key color variables and implement a theme-based solution, with the default being TV-Media's own brand.

The concept can be further enhanced and expanded with new functionality as needed.
Now, all that’s required are the client’s creatives — making the process fast, reliable, and precisely targeted. We're eager to see what designs and concepts will be realized.
