We visited a conference in Vienna to pick up new perspectives and skills in a diverse landscape of work and life related topics.

The light goes dark, fog is finding its way onto the stage and the display is counting down the last seconds until an heroic video begins playing and the first speaker enters the room to capture the audience with the first story.

It’s a recurring theme, and we like it: in between organizational meetings or tech focused events, it’s sometimes easy to forget the energy and specialty good talks can create when speakers are clearly at the height of their game.

Ali Mahlodji sets the stage for what will be a day that holds input in all directions, and you as a visitor can decide what you want to pick and take with you.

Inspiration

One big theme on the event was the concept of recognizing and celebrating your fire: Ideas that drive you, but furthermore, the big why – why do you want to do what you have in mind? What is it that you stand up for every day?

With this, alongside some courage to appreciate and follow it, your passion can not only be found in dreams but made reality.

Mindset

To make ideas and dreams a reality, a compounding effort is needed: With a structured and balanced life that works for you, and clear priorities in which things you invest yourself in your day to day life, even fewer hours invested in these dreams add up to a good amount over time and eventually become easier as you go.

We were shown how far this can go by a person that overcame physical and mental limitations over and over again in order to keep growing and realize their dreams.

Your body is a temple

A common thread was the overall importance of your physical and mental wellbeing as the primary base for all of the above. What sounds like something that should be clear from the start is often forgotten and overlooked when other things keep getting prioritized over this: Many entrepreneurs talked about their struggle with health issues after fully committing to their cause which often resulted in higher stress and an oversight on this.

A very good addition to the speaker lineup was a talk about simple actions everyone can and should take in order to live long and healthy. The talk was held by two medical experts who saw the consequences of unhealthy behavior in their daily lives as doctors and are now committed to help companies prevent issues that can as well easily be prevented: We know for a fact where many health issues originate from, we only have to act accordingly.

So, this was a good reminder to

  • get enough quality sleep

  • reduce stress wherever possible

  • eat enough protein

  • work out, especially keep up your strength training game 💪
